Mum it has been 7 weeks today that you slipped away and life doesn't get easier without you. I know you are not suffering anymore but it is the people that love you that have a huge void in their life without you. You were so loved by so many people and I only hope you came to realise that at the end. The album Shaun and I did for you hopefully expressed all the love that both Shaun and I as well as many others had for you.

My life will never be the same without you in it, but I will endeavour to make you proud of me until one day we meet again. I will carry you in my heart forever and I think the poem I said at your funeral says it all for me, after all you were never just my mother you were always my soul mate and my best friend.

Dear Mum, I want to let you know

how much you mean to me,

And express my love and gratitude

for all you've helped me be

You've been the perfect mother

Kind and loving too,

I grew strong with your support,

Dependable and true

You were always there to guide me

throughout my childhood years

You encouraged, praised, and loved me,

and wiped away my tears

And when I'd grown, and flown the nest

the bond between us grew,

You welcomed in my husband,

and he, in turn, loved you

Throughout the years your life and mine

have always been entwined,

The bonds of love, unbreakable,

withstand the test of time

Though I may not often tell you,

I hope you know it's true -

You've been the perfect mother,

and I'll always love you

In recent years you've grown more frail

as health and strength decline

If I could take away your pain

I'd gladly make it mine

But all through this last illness

you've smiled despite the pain

For we share a deep conviction -

One day we'll meet again

And though I know the time has come

when we must be apart

I'll keep my treasured memories

safe within my heart

Perhaps in time my pain will ease,

my broken heart will mend,

But I'll always love and cherish you,
