My Mum (Betty Laura Hannigan)

Your Daughter Lynette
Mum, no words can express how much I miss you and love you and there isn’t a minute that goes by I don’t think of you. I was so blessed and proud to have you not only as my Mum but my very best friend and we shared a very special Mother and Daughter relationship that will live in my heart forever. Our love will continue forever, and I know we will be together again one day.
It is now 5 months since I lost you on the 12 March 2004, but Mum, you are now at peace, free from pain and suffering. You were so brave and didn’t complain once and always managed to show that beautiful smile of yours – no matter what. You fought to the very last breath, and I know you were only holding on for me.
You were loved and admired and thought the world of by so many people and will never be forgotten as being a caring, loving and beautiful lady with a heart of gold.
Your “little boy” Corey also misses you, but we are taking good care of each other.
When I look up into the sky at night, you are the brightest star up there and that star has a special name and it is called “Betty Laura Hannigan”, named in your honour.
Mum, please don’t worry about me, I am being taken care of by many of our wonderful friends.
I love you with all of my heart and soul and miss you so much Mum and this poem is for you.
My Poem For My Special Mum
Thank you Mum for everything
I can’t begin to say
How much I really love you
For ever and a day.
I’ll love you for all time
Throughout each week and year
And today is forever special
Now I make my feelings clear.
You know beyond all doubt
How very much I care
And how grateful I have always felt
In knowing you were there.
You’ve always been so patient
So gentle and so kind
You’ve been there when I’ve needed you
And never seemed to mind.
You helped me through unhappy times
You gave me all you could
You put me right when I was wrong
And somehow, always understood.
So on this sad and special day
I’m saying “thank you”, not “goodbye”
For all the wonderful things that came our way
Mum, in my heart you will always stay.
