Dedicated To: My Grandma

With Love: Melinda

My grandma was a wonderful woman who taught me many things in life and two of these lessons I would like to share.

Lesson 1- How to overcome adversity with dignity and pride
Through personal challenges, health problems and whatever came her way, Grandma fought against it with a quiet and understated resilience.
No matter how she was feeling she always was more concerned about someone else and never wanted to concern people with what she was going through.

Lesson 2- Don’t forget the little things
I will always have the memories of the little things we shared, and it is only now that I realise how much they mean to me.
Like letting me eat biscuits for breakfast in her bed when I stayed overnight.
Like keeping the first fish I ever caught, it’s still in her freezer after 25years.
Like her special cups of tea that could always make you feel better when you were sick.
Like keeping the cartoons we cut out of the paper when I was a little girl.
Like how she would always ask how my cat was before she asked about me.
Like seeing her knit and watch TV at the same time.
Like asking for a watch for Xmas even when she already had 15
Like her kisses hello and her hugs goodbye. I will miss these the most.
She will always be in my heart and as close to me as the day I was born and I will ensure my daughter learns these same lessons and passes them to her own children one day.

I love you Grandma, Love Melinda
