Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO, Governor
of NSW, launched the CD ‘The Magic of Memories’ at
The Ensemble Theatre, Kirribilli.
The CD, written by Dianne McKissock OAM, one of Australia’s
best known and respected bereavement counsellors, and
narrated by Henri Szeps OAM, award winning actor of
stage and screen, is designed to help carers safely
assist children’s grief after the death of someone
they love.
This collection of five real life stories is also
a valuable resource for parents, teachers and counsellors,
having the power to illuminate key aspects of grief,
and contribute to a deep understanding of childhood
bereavement. Each year in Australia thousands of children
are forced to cope with grief as they become affected
by the loss of someone close to them.
“The magic of these stories lies in their potential
to have a therapeutic effect on children who feel misunderstood
in their coping with the challenges of bereavement.
Each story is powerful and memorable: a lesson about
the preciousness of LIFE and the value of caring and
loving relationships” . Danai Papadatou, Professor
of Psychology, Athens University, Greece.
